Crime Sheet

Crime reference Number B/06/3244

Between the 4th and 12 February at a premises in a small, quiet cul -de- sac situated off a rural road in the Newdigate area. Someone has gone to the premises and entered the rear of the property via an insecure side gate leading to rear garden they have then gained access to the building via a window using a tool, possibly a screw driver.

An antique Card table was taken and a rosewood walking stick, carved in the form of bamboo, and a Dell computer.

Crime Reference B/06/2816

It would appear we have some people interested in architectural salvage in the area. On the night of the 6th to 7th February taken from a garden in the Westhumble area, the top 4ft of an antique ornamental pillar, on which was mounted a carved stone sundial.

This was pushed over, smashing both, part of the sundial and the york stone pavement beneath. The suspects have then carried the sundial across the grass and through a hole cut in the fence. It would appear that it was loaded into a van or lorry of some description to be taken away.

I know that many people have antique garden ornament and to expect you to chain them down would be unrealistic however take a photograph and if possible place an identifiable mark on it and check they are still there now and again.

Incident Number P2766162

On the 6th February by Brockham just off the A25 a Mitsubishi Warrior index YH05 YTW was seen, the driver was believed to be firing a catapult into the fields close by. When he was challenged by the farmer at first he asked if they had any tree work for him, when asked about firing into the field he claimed he was just throwing rubbish away, he then drove off.
