Busy, busy, busy – sums up the last month within the Parish
Council. Cllrs Hammond, Homewood and Hamilton are members of the
committee to keep our sub-post office at Strood Green. Our April
meeting saw host to Cllr Bridget Lewis (Chair of MVC) and Cllr
H. Carr. They were extremely impressed with our commitment and
attention to local issues. We are now also helping the young community
of Brockham and Strood Green in their hope to gain a skate park
somewhere in the locality. Cllr Hamilton met with eight representatives
from the local community to better understand their needs. We are
now actively pursuing some ideas we discussed in our April meeting.
Taxi Voucher Scheme
Mole Valley DC has introduced a Taxi Voucher
Scheme to provide a solution to mobility problems for people
in rural areas who do
not have ready access to transport. The £2 vouchers can be
used to pay or part-pay taxi journeys providing you meet the criteria
for taking part. It is open to applicants from the rural parishes
of Mole Valley. The vouchers are also available for young people.

Cllr Des Smith attended the Dorking PCPG meeting
hosted by Surrey Police dealing with rural policing issues. The
Parish council is
once again making renewed enquiries as regards a pedestrian
crossing at the Green – we will keep you posted.
Thames Water at Stroof Green
Thames Water
have just started working at Strood Green and the Parish
Council are
supporting the residents with both the problems with the
buses cutting the corner of the west end of the green and the
proposals
by Surrey County Council to remedy the problem by marking
the road with white lines.
And worthy of a special mention – Cllr
Des Smith after at least 4 years ofcampaigning, finally got
the 30mph roundels painted at the North and South end of the
village – well done Des.
Our AGM will be held in the
church hall starting at 8pm on 9 May 2005. Finally, we are
entering Brockham into the best-kept village competition, so
we will be
asking for your support.
